November 9 by Colleen Hoover Introduction:
Fiction is a better version of reality but it does not necessarily deviate from reality. November 9 by Colleen Hoover is a contemporary romance novel. It is a fine blend of reality and fiction that presents life, relationships, and emotions in a very striking manner. The story is about a struggling actress Fallon and a struggling writer Ben. The two meet on November 9 when Fallon is about to move to New York. Both of them decide that they would meet every November 9 until the next five years.
Merits:
The novel has a first-person point of view and the narrative changes from one main character to the other. Thus, the reader gets an in-depth description of events. It has short chapters and focuses only on November 9th – the date when they actually meet. The rest of the events are reported through one character or the other.
The start of the chapters are very poetic. There are small stanzas attached to most of the chapters. The novel thus appears to have small strokes of poetry for the readers who are more into the poetic description of events.
The writing style of Hoover is very easy which makes it a fast read. The themes are simple but properly portrayed. The story deals with the theme of heartbreak, love, determination, revenge, forgiveness, and even parental love. The book is like the life story of every young reader.
Even though the novel presents the events of a fixed date, But every year dramatic events baffle the characters whenever they meet. The reader is thus hooked from the first page till the last.
Demerits:
It is hard to point out the things which might be disliked by a reader. However, there is a detailed description of erotic scenes which may not be liked by all. Few of the characters are left undeveloped while there are a lot of unnecessary details about the protagonists. Ben’s brothers are an important part of his life but they are mostly left untouched by the author.
The major drama in the story occurs due to Ben and Jordyn’s affair but it is never revealed how they actually got over it and why they started it in the first place. The author describes the emotions which led to Ben’s affair with her but it is not pretty convincing. Fallon seems to get over it quite easily which is unlikely since she is possessive and even sarcastic.

Concluding Remarks the “November 9 by Colleen Hoover“:
November 9 is undoubtedly one of the best by Colleen Hoover. There are very minor things that stain the story but these demerits can easily be excused if one considers the gist of fiction. Hoover mostly focuses on the main characters and the sub-characters are often developed by her in other books since her characters reappear in most of the books. The themes along with the writing style affect even the most ordinary reader. It is definitely an easy and interesting read. The reader can expect life lessons that he might be looking for.
