Summary of “The five People you Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom”

Life is a pretty nasty business when one thinks about it. There are many things that happen but should not have happened. We feel as if we are lurking around in a cesspool of chaos and confusion – being led to an eternal pit of turmoil. This is something all of us can relate to. But what if we get a reasonable justification for all the things which have happened in our life, it would surely ease the pain of existence. And what if this answer is not philosophical or complicated but simple and soothing? What a plus point that would be! Let’s Reflect on this with the help of “The Five People You Meet in Heaven.”

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

Is a book about 80 years old Eddie. Who dies at the beginning of the story giving rise to a profound tale of love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. The novel revolves around the fact that heaven is not a fancy place to live, eat, and be merry. But a consistent journey to find answers to the things which have happened in our lives. Eddie meets five people who explain life to him. These people are not only the loved ones but the random strangers as well.

He meets the Blue Man who was accidentally killed by him as a child. Then he meets the Captain with whom he went to war. He meets the woman who explains the harsh attitude of his father. He meets the love of his life, his wife. And finally, he meets a small girl who was left by him in a burning house (when he was a soldier) that killed her. All these people teach one lesson to him which makes it easier for him to accept the way his life has been. They take grab him and take him to a path to his heaven. By the end of the story, he realizes that it was all worth it; life was after all worth a try.

To Sum UP:

The book reveals that there is a tiny piece of heaven for everybody and it is surely one of the amazing reads on a hectic day. The ideas may appear weird and even obnoxious to those who adhere to some strong religious dogma. But the book in itself is a lovely ride that makes one realize that all of us are connected and each one of us deserves to have a piece of heaven we can call our own.
